The aims of the group were:
- To reduce the number of young people in County Durham Not in Education, Employment or Training by increasing their entry to and retention in post-16 learning.
- To increase the number achieving a Level 2 qualification by the age of 19.
One of the first tasks of the group was to develop and agree a strategy which would be a coherent cross agency plan to increase the number of young people engaged in education, employment and training (EET). The Strategy (see pdf file below) has since been endorsed by the County Durham Children's Executive Board and an Action Plan has been developed which details how the strategy will be taken forward (see The Action Plan web page).

The members of the Task Group are aware that there is a whole range of activity, projects and funding streams targeted at engaging and supporting young people to engage in employment, education and training, in order to capture this, a web based action plan has been created, starting from the original paper based Increasing Participation Action Plan, it will clearly identify Priorities, Outcomes, Action, Activity, Milestones, Targets and Progress.
All Partner organisations and agencies will be able to see how they can support a particular priority or outcome and will also be able to see what is currently taking place. The Action Plan will be a live document, regularly updated with the latest information and we will be encouraging all partners to submit details of their Organisation, Delivery Plans, Case Studies, Examples of Effective Practice and Project Evaluation Reports to share on these pages.
Anyone wishing to Send Information or Request Information relating to the Action Plan can do so using the navigation bar on the left hand side.
