14-19 Plan
Information, Advice and Guidance
The launch in County Durham of the Department of Children and Families Services (DCFS), Quality for Young People's Information, Advice and Guidance (IAG) took place at the Hardwick Hall Hotel, Sedgefield on Friday 9 November, 'hot on the heels' of the national launch on the 31 October 2007 by Beverley Hughes - the Minister for Children and Young people.
The key note speaker was Janet Donoghue, an IAG consultant, who was the author of the User Guide, which supports the standards document.
The need for young people to have access to good quality, comprehensive and impartial information, advice and guidance is essential they are to make the right learning and career choices for their futures.
The attendance at the event (75 delegates), reflected how key partners in learning and support for young people 11-19, endorse the governments commitment to raising the quality of IAG for the young people of County Durham. The implementation of the standards from April 2008, under the guidance of the Local Authority, will be the driver to better collaboration by key partners to ensure the standards are met for the benefit of the young people of County Durham.
